Aardweg Landscaping has been designing and installing landscapes in the Main Line and suburban Philadelphia area for over 35 years. As professional landscape installers, we have the knowledge, experience and flexibility to cost-effectively manage the following array of landscape installation projects:
- Landscape design and installation of large properties or small, intimate gardens
- Completion of whole landscape installation projects at once, or phased installation to accommodate your construction or budgetary requirements
- Solving drainage and erosion problems on flat or sloping properties, such as standing water, pooling water around garden beds, or flooding in the basement or crawl space;
- Coordination of tree removal and removing and transplanting existing small trees and plants.
Site Preparation
The first step that Aardweg landscape installers take is preparing the site, which includes clearing and grading as required by the design plans. Any drainage or erosion control issues would be addressed first by the landscape installers by grading to add swales, terraces, or berms; or by installing site improvements such as underground piping, French drains, or run-off drains. Checking to make sure that gutter downspouts are draining away from the foundation and the foundation soil slopes away from the house is part of the service we provide to you.
Hardscape and Irrigation System Installation
Following site preparation is the installation of hardscaping, including walkways, patios, steps, and retaining walls. Water features such as ponds and waterfalls are installed. The electrical wiring for landscape lighting, plumbing, and electrical work for water features and the irrigation system, would be coordinated with the hardscaping work being done by the landscape installers.
Amendment for Healthy Soil
Excellent soil quality is vital to a healthy garden. Plant growth is dependent on the absorptive, nutritional, and organic quality of the soil. Soil amendment before planting is frequently the initial step of the plant material installation. We frequently bring in peat moss and composted cow manure to be rototilled into the existing soil to insure optimal growth for our plants.
Plant Installation and On-Site Design Composition
After bed preparation and transplanting are completed, plant material deliveries are scheduled to ensure timely planting by landscape installers after the plants have arrived. The design master plan and photo image designs are carefully followed in conjunction with on-site composition to accomplish the finest and most aesthetically pleasing final design.
Drip Irrigation
The vast majority of our clients have us install our efficient, cost effective drip irrigation systems. They are run to the base of each plant and the appropriate gallon-per-minute rated water emitter is inserted, to deliver the required moisture level for each plant. The system insures that we have optimal growth and minimal loss due to the frequent droughts we experience. Mulch is applied to cover the tubing , encourage moisture retention, suppress weed growth and enhance the appearance of the installation.
Clean-up and Walk-Through
The whole property, including the driveways and walkways, will be thoroughly cleaned and all construction debris will be removed. A walk-through will be scheduled to allow you to review and approve all of the work that has been completed, guaranteeing your complete satisfaction with your Aardweg Landscaping installation.
